Almost a year ago, a dear friend asked me to help her with her main bedroom. It was already a great room with beautiful bones and natural light. Amanda wanted to feel like her bedroom was a calm retreat and a beautiful space. I suggested a floor plan change, using what she already had, buying a few key items, painting the walls, and getting the most beautiful TV in the world. Let’s see some pictures.

There is a slight bump out of one of the windows which allows for a bit more room on the wall where the bed used to be. So there is more space for having an office area as well.

A TV in the bedroom was a must for my friends, so I recommended the most beautiful TV in the world. The Frame, from Samsung, is an actual beautiful TV. It is gorgeous in any room but, if you can afford it, it makes an especially big impact on a bedroom. When you are not watching it, the TV acts as a piece of art and looks stunning. Other than that we added accessories that my friend already owned, and spray painted the hardware on the dresser. I love how simply spraying the hardware made such a difference to the dresser’s overall look and feel.
When we first started talking about changes we could make, they didn’t know what to do with the walls. In a lot of newer homes in Edmonton the trim is painted almost a light greige colour. They wanted to change the blue but didn’t know what to do with all the trim and wainscotting. Having a trim and wainscotting in a darker colour with a lighter colour on the walls has been popping up everywhere and I knew if we kept the trim the colour it was and changed the wall colour to white, the trim and wainscotting would look gorgeous. I love the way it turned out. It’s bright and lovely, but the trim and wainscotting are so warm. Just to be clear, they never painted the trim and wainscotting. It’s the same colour in both the before and after.
